Hailing from Madrid, this four-veteran combo (Jaime, Jorge, Dani and Macón) formed in 1999 has been cultivating sonic exploration and deeply emotional outpourings since its inception. It has always been Adrift´s goal to create music with enough power to convey emotion in itself rather than taking shelter in swelling words: “lyrics is one aspect that we really do not put as much focus as with music… we look more into the purely instrumental aspect of the voice”, says drummer Jaime. Their compositions also reflect this underlying spirit honing an abrasive, atmospheric and high-powered interpretation of the most technical sludge-hardcore-doom standards. After a demo and a previous single, the band began to gain traction outside of underground circles due to their self-released EP Troya in 2005. Soon after, they appeared with two unreleased tracks on 2006´s four way split album Waterloo, featuring several of the most promising bands of the Spanish post-metal scene – Moshka, Moho, Another Kind of Death -, which drew instant worldwide acclaim from critics – comparing them to Isis or Sunn O))) – and top acts like Scott Kelly (Neurosis). Monolito (Monolith), their debut album in 2008, settled their songwriting foundations and fully define their dark and nuanced sound style. This work was full of harrowing riffs and hectic rhythms that came together in an amalgam of metallic, progressive and infernal noise. As a result, the band won endorsements from press (MondoSonoro´s #2 National Metal Album of the Year) and fellow musicians alike (Wolves in the Throne Room, Hamlet), despite of any promotion as their record label folded a week later of the album release. Like any metal band worth its salt, Adrift followed up by touring nearly non-stop across the country in a three year span of time, appeared in international festivals (Bracara Extreme Fest) and performed dates along with Entombed, Wolves in the Throne, Cult of Luna, Yaphet Kotto or Machetazo.

In 2012, Adrift have finally announced the release of their sophomore album, ‘Black Heart Bleeds Black’. This new material has moved Adrift further into the world of the psychedelic and the progressive, marking a new milestone on this remarkable band’s musical journey: songs nearly 10 minutes long, instrumental passages and endless fleeting moments. Perhaps more organic and musical than the previous efforts, without losing their devastating punch, this album matches the loose extemporaneity and crunchy dynamism of the band’s live sets with sophisticated arrangements and deft musicianship. For Adrift, the aim is always about turning it up, taking their music even further, and above all, enjoying what they do: “After thirteen years playing together, we have reached that point where you are totally certain that you simply do this for passion”.
