3. Di Pudarnya Senja
5. Pada Siang Hari
Jogjakarta’s Senyawa uniquely manage to embody the aural flavours of Javanese music whilst exploring the framework of experimental music practice, pushing the boundaries of both traditions. The 10 compositions, explosions, sensations, emotions of this debut full-length album strike a perfect balance between their avant-garde influences and cultural heritage to create « the » truly contemporary Indonesian music.
This piece exposes the genius of transnationality as an open space with no borders, no location, no name, but just pure rapture and simple ability to find a place deep beyond anything we thought we had seen before. Rully Shabara and Wukir Suryadi cross the limits of sound, imagination, sacred, profane, sanity, insanity, life, death (…) and bring us home to where we should actually be – right in the « here » and right in the « now »!
